Tyler Perry, the prolific filmmaker behind numerous successful films, has unveiled the trailer for his upcoming drama “Divorce In The Black.” This highly anticipated film promises a poignant exploration of marital breakdown, hidden secrets, and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit.
The narrative centers on Ava (Meagan Good), a high-achieving bank professional whose seemingly idyllic marriage to Dallas (Cory Hardrict) abruptly dissolves. Determined to salvage their union, Ava embarks on a quest for self-discovery that unearths devastating truths about Dallas and his past actions. These revelations serve as a catalyst, shattering her worldview and exposing the underlying reasons behind the marital discord.
In a press release, Perry, who serves as the film’s director, writer, and producer, elaborated on his creative vision:”‘Divorce In The Black’ is essentially Ava’s story. Despite a strong network of family and friends, her marriage has diminished her sense of self. The film is fundamentally about her journey to reclaim her inner strength and rediscover the powerful woman she truly is.”
“Divorce In The Black” boasts a stellar cast alongside Good and Hardrict. Veteran actors Richard Lawson and Debbi Morgan lend their extensive experience to the production, while Joseph Lee Anderson, Shannon Wallace, and Taylor Polidore further enhance the ensemble.
With a runtime of 2 hours and 23 minutes and an R rating, the film suggests a mature exploration of love, loss, and the empowering path toward self-discovery. “Divorce In The Black” is slated for release on Prime Video on July 11th, 2024.
