Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Children of Blood and Bone, the upcoming adaptation of fantasy novelist Tomi Adeyemi’s book. The film opens in theaters on January 15, 2027.
The film will be exclusive to movie theatres, such as Dolby Cinema, premium large-format, and IMAX.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, who co-wrote the screenplay with the novelist Tomi Adeyemi, whose novel inspired the film, the story takes place in the fictional world of Orisha, where a young woman embarks on a journey to recover the magical power that was forcibly taken from her community. She teams up with her brother, as well as the king’s princess and prince, to overthrow his tyrannical rule.
The lead actors are Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, and Tosin Cole. The movie stars Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Zackary Momoh, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Idris Elba, and Viola Davis. Cynthia Erivo and Chiwetel Ejiofor have been nominated for an Academy Award, while Regina King and Viola Davis are the Oscar winners.
Also starring in the movie are Saniyya Sidney, Diaana Babnicova, Bukky Bakray, Ayra Starr, Shamz Garuba, Kola Bodunde, Pamilerin Afolake Ayodeji, and Temitope Fagbenle.
Paramount Pictures produced the film along with Temple Hill and Sunswept Entertainment. Paramount Pictures presents the production in association with Domain Entertainment and 2.0 Entertainment. The movie was produced by Wyck Godfrey, John Fischer, Isaac Klausner, Karen Rosenfelt, and Matt Jackson.
