Katy Perry is asking her fans to take swift political action and contact their US Senators to stop more funding going to ICE.

On Instagram, the pop star encouraged her fans to contact the Senate switchboard at (202) 224-3121 to stop $10 billion in new funding going to ICE by Jan. 30, in addition to the $75 billion already approved.

Her messages were short and to the point.

“WHO: YOU, THE POWER IS IN YOUR HANDS,” Perry wrote in the first Instagram slide.

“WHAT: CALL YOUR SENATORS,” she wrote in the second.

“WHEN: NOW. WE HAVE UNTIL FRIDAY, JANUARY 30TH TO BLOCK $10 BILLION (ON TOP OF THE $75B THAT’S ALREADY BEEN FUNDED) FROM GOING THROUGH TO ICE,” she wrote in the third.

“WHERE: CALL (202) 224-3121,” she concluded in the fourth Instagram slide.

The action is in response to a Senate spending bill that includes funding for ICE. While Democratic leaders believe the bill can stop a government shutdown, the funding going to ICE has come under heavy fire from progressive lawmakers and immigration activists who believe ICE is overfunded and has human rights problems.

Katy Perry, a longtime supporter of immigrant rights, accompanied her Instagram stories with a casual shot of herself surrounded by plush toys.
