Kendrick Lamar is still the king, as his latest album, GNX, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The critically acclaimed project makes Lamar’s fifth consecutive chart-topping album, amassing 319,000 equivalent album units in its first week. This includes an impressive 379.72 million on-demand streams and 32,000 pure album sales, further solidifying his legacy as one of the most influential artists of the modern era.
No. 2: Wicked, the soundtrack to the highly-anticipated theatrical adaptation of the popular stage musical, featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. The set launches with 139,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week, consisting of 67.66 million streams and an impressive 85,000 in pure sales. Wicked scores the largest sales debut for any soundtrack this decade, passing Barbie, and the largest for a theatrical adaptation on the Billboard 200.
Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet rises to No. 3 with 69,000 units moved, continuing a solid run since release with over 1.55 million total units sold. The album spent four weeks at No. 1.
Meanwhile, Tyler, The Creator’s CHROMAKOPIA falls to No. 4, moving an additional 61,000 units for a total of 706,000 since release.
Billie Eilish is back in the top ten as HIT ME HARD AND SOFT leaps to No. 5 with 50,000 units this week. It’s nearing a major milestone with nearly 2 million units sold to date.
Other notables include Gracie Abrams’ The Secret of Us at No. 6 with 48,000 units and Taylor Swift’s THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT at No. 8 with 43,000 units, continuing to be a juggernaut with over 6.1 million total units sold. Morgan Wallen’s One Thing At A Time stays constant in the Top 10 at No. 9 with 42,000 units, and Chappell Roan remains at No. 10 with The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess with the same unit count.
