Almost a decade after the incident in which Kim Kardashian was held captive and threatened at gunpoint in Paris, the French court has ruled that she should receive one euro ($1.15) in compensation. This amount is literally what Kardashian wanted.

According to AP News, the court issued the ruling on Tuesday. A lawyer involved in the case announced the decision orally to the news agency, based on the French court’s ruling.

This happened after eight people were found guilty last year of involvement in the jewelry heist on October 2, 2016, committed when Kardashian visited Paris for Fashion Week. Two robbers dressed as police officers invaded her room at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, tied her up with zip ties and tape, and took away more than $6 million worth of jewelry, including the diamond ring she had been wearing to a Givenchy show that evening.

One of the hotel receptionists, who said he was traumatized because of the robbery, was awarded 109,516 euros ($126,472). The man asked for 550,000 euros ($634,868). His lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, considers this outcome a victory.

The hotel was also awarded 50,000 euros ($57,741).

Kardashian’s stylist, Simone Harouche, who was with her during the robbery, also wanted to receive 1 euro and did. Kardashian and Harouche released a joint statement thanking France’s justice system.

Kim Kardashian previously described the robbery as “the most terrifying experience of my life.”

The stolen items included a ring worth $4 million, which her rapper husband, Kanye West (now called Ye), gave her as an engagement gift, according to Reuters.

The robbery is reported to be the largest in France in the last two decades.

In May 2025, a Paris court found eight of the ten people charged with the heist guilty. The ringleader, Aomar Ait Khedache, was punished with an eight-year jail term, with five years suspended. None of the people found guilty went to jail because they had served their time while in pre-trial custody.

The criminals became known in France as “les papys braqueurs” or grandpa robbers, because of their age. Six of them were over 60 and 70 years old when standing trial for the crime of armed robbery, kidnapping, and membership in a criminal gang.

Kim Kardashian came to Paris for the trial and told the court that she thought she was going to die that evening. She also told Khedache that she forgave him, as he wrote her a letter asking for forgiveness.
