Put down the contour brush and raise a glass, because our girl Kim Kardashian just graduated law school. Yes, law school. And she did it her way, baby!
On Wednesday, May 21, Kim Kardashian, the 44-year-old reality star turned legal queen, officially completed California’s grueling Law Office Study Program. She celebrated the milestone in full glam, with her closest friends, her family, her kids, and what looked like the chicest, most sentimental backyard graduation we’ve ever seen. Cue the tears, cue the applause, cue the metallic mani holding that certificate.
A LEGAL LEGEND IN LUXURY
Kim took to Instagram Stories to break the big news in a series of videos that were as iconic as you’d expect. “I finally graduated law school after six years!!!” she gushed over a clip of her adjusting her graduation cap on stage. The moment? So Kim. Surrounded by loved ones, she beamed as the crowd (yes, including her four adorable children) erupted in applause.
And no, you’re not reading that wrong. This journey took six years instead of four. Because let’s be real. Juggling motherhood, running multiple businesses, producing a reality empire, and literally advocating in courtrooms doesn’t leave a ton of time for casual case law readings. But Kim made it happen. On her own terms.
NO SHORTCUTS, NO IVORY TOWERS, JUST KIM K WORK ETHIC
Attorney and mentor Jessica Jackson stood proudly on stage and delivered what may be one of the most moving legal tributes ever. “Six years ago, Kim Kardashian walked into this program with nothing but a fierce desire to fight for justice,” Jackson said. “No law school lectures, no ivory tower shortcuts, just determination and a mountain of case law books to read.”
How intense was Kim’s study schedule? Try 18 hours a week, 48 weeks a year, for six straight years. That’s 5,184 hours of legal study. While also parenting four kids, managing SKIMS and other brands, and filming The Kardashians. Name a law student who could compete. We’ll wait.
FAMILY, FASHION, AND FEELS
The ceremony itself was so Kardashian-coded. Intimate, meaningful, and of course, glam. Her sisters, Khloé Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian Barker, were front and center. “I am so proud of Kim. I just left her celebration lunch for graduating law school,” Khloé shared on her own Instagram Stories, visibly emotional. “This was years and years in the making. I’m so proud of her.”
Kourtney, never one to miss a moment, posted a cheeky selfie wearing Kim’s grad cap with the caption, “Supportive sister.” Sister goals? Always.
Kim’s kids joined her onstage as she held up her certificate. Truly a moment for the family scrapbook. Or the Hulu docu-series. Or both.
THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED AND MORE FABULOUS
Let’s not forget. Kim didn’t go the traditional law school route. Instead, she took the road less traveled, one only California and three other U.S. states even offer, by completing an apprenticeship with a licensed law firm. No undergrad degree. No classroom lectures. Just raw, relentless ambition and a criminal justice dream sparked by her late father, attorney Robert Kardashian Sr.
She began her apprenticeship in 2018 and took the infamous “baby bar” (also known as the First-Year Law Students’ Examination) in 2021 and passed on her fourth try, after failing three times. One of those attempts included a 104-degree fever from COVID. Did she give up? Never. “OMFGGGG I PASSED THE BABY BAR EXAM!!!!” she wrote on X at the time, in a tweet that instantly became legend.
“For anyone who doesn’t know my law school journey, know this wasn’t easy or handed to me,” she added. “I was told by top lawyers this was almost impossible but it was my only option.”
MPRE DOWN. BAR EXAM NEXT.
Kim’s graduation isn’t just for show. This March, she sat for the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE), a key step toward becoming a practicing lawyer in California. She hasn’t taken the bar exam yet, but that’s just one more chapter in this legal glam saga.
And if her past record tells us anything, she’ll crush it. Eventually, Kim won’t just be changing lives from behind a camera, but in the courtroom too. She’s already been involved in criminal justice reform, helping commute the sentences of nonviolent offenders and working alongside organizations like #Cut50.
A NEW ERA FOR KIM KARDASHIAN
From reality star to fashion mogul to future lawyer, Kim Kardashian has evolved into one of the most multifaceted women in modern media. She didn’t just reinvent herself. She rewrote the script, binder tabs and all.
So here’s to the girl who turned beauty into business, fame into philanthropy, and headlines into hard-earned degrees. Kim Kardashian, law school graduate. That’s not just a title. That’s a legacy.
And she did it in heels.
