Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter has signed with Young Money APAA Sports for his on-field representation as he transitions to the NFL, sources told Front Office Sports.
Hunter, who played his final collegiate game in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday—a 36–14 loss to BYU—becomes one of the highest-profile athletes to join Young Money APAA Sports, the sports agency co-founded by rapper Lil Wayne. The agency represents athletes across the NFL, NBA, soccer, and college sports.
The two-way star, renowned for his exceptional skills as both a wide receiver and cornerback, is widely projected to be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, his primary position in the NFL remains undecided. This decision could have financial implications, as elite wide receivers typically command higher salaries than top cornerbacks.
A Growing Portfolio of Stars
Hunter adds to Young Money’s impressive roster, which recently signed Duke quarterback Darian Mensah to a two-year, $8 million NIL deal following his transfer from Tulane. The agency also represents Colorado defensive end Jehiem Oatis, a former five-star recruit who transferred from Alabama.
Young Money’s successful recruitment of Hunter came despite competition from major agencies like WME, CAA, Klutch Sports Group, and Athletes First, sources said.
Hints of Hunter’s decision emerged in recent weeks. During his Heisman acceptance speech, Hunter gave a shoutout to Lil Wayne. After the ceremony, Young Money APAA Sports CEO Adie von Gontard posted photos with Hunter and the Heisman Trophy on Instagram. Von Gontard was also spotted on the Colorado sideline before the Alamo Bowl, further fueling speculation.
Young Money APAA Sports has not commented publicly on the signing.
Off-Field Representation with SMAC
Hunter will continue to work with SMAC Entertainment for his off-field representation. SMAC, which also represents Colorado head coach Deion Sanders and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, has secured major NIL deals for Hunter, including a partnership with Adidas that will carry over into his professional career.
After Hunter’s Heisman win, SMAC co-founder and CEO Constance Schwartz-Morini expressed excitement about collaborating with Hunter’s chosen on-field representation. “We’ll be having a lot of conversations on partnering,” Schwartz-Morini said.
A Star’s Next Chapter
Hunter’s signing with Young Money marks another milestone in his rising career. With a Heisman Trophy under his belt and a projected top-five NFL Draft selection, the versatile athlete is poised to make a significant impact in professional football. His partnership with Young Money and SMAC Entertainment positions him as both a cultural and athletic icon as he prepares for the next stage of his journey.
