Mandy Moore Claps Back at Critics of Wildfire GoFundMe: ‘Kindly F Off!’

Actress and singer Mandy Moore has responded forcefully to critics after sharing a GoFundMe campaign aimed at supporting her brother-in-law, Griffin, and sister-in-law, Kit, who lost their home in the recent Los Angeles wildfires.

The couple, expecting their first child in a few weeks, lost all their possessions, including Griffin’s professional drum equipment essential for his livelihood as a touring musician.

Moore initially shared the fundraising link on her Instagram, stating, “So many have asked how to help during this unimaginable and stressful time… Please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild.”

However, the post drew criticism from some followers who questioned why Moore, given her financial status, was seeking public donations.

In response, Moore updated her post, expressing frustration: “People questioning whether we’re helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money Google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic. Of course we are… Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you … .”

The GoFundMe campaign, initiated by musician Matthew Koma, husband of actress Hilary Duff, has garnered significant support, nearing its $145,000 goal. Notably, actor Zachary Levi contributed $10,000.

Moore’s own residence in Altadena was also affected by the wildfires. While the main structure remains standing, she reported the loss of her husband Taylor Goldsmith’s music studio, along with their garage and back house. “Everyone we know lost everything … shared, expressing “weird survivor’s guilt” and a commitment to support her community in rebuilding efforts.

The Los Angeles wildfires have caused widespread devastation, with over 180,000 residents evacuated and thousands of structures destroyed. The economic impact is estimated to be as high as $50 billion.
