Megan Thee Stallion Shrugs Off Another Copyright Claim in “Savage” Case

Megan Thee Stallion extends her legal winning streak as a federal judge dismisses a copyright infringement lawsuit targeting her smash hit “Savage,” according to The Daily Gazette.

The lawsuit, filed by James A Greene, alleged that “Savage” infringed on his 1999 song “It’s About To Be On.” However, the judge threw out the case, citing a lack of substantial similarity between the two tracks. The ruling emphasized that any similarities stemmed from common musical elements that fall outside copyright protection.

In a blow to Greene’s claims, the judge pointed out the extreme obscurity of “It’s About To Be On.” Attempts to find the song on popular streaming platforms proved futile, suggesting the track never achieved mainstream recognition. This casts doubt on the possibility that Megan or her producers ever came across Greene’s work, further weakening his case.
