Melanie Herrera is preparing for her debut album, “A Fearful & Wondrous Thing.” The album’s release date is May 28, and she dropped a teaser for her next single, “I Think I Lied,” along with the announcement.
It is an amusing track that captures the essence of the uncertainty that comes with being attracted to someone. The song progresses to the bridge filled with anticipation.
According to Melanie, “‘I Think I Lied‘ is a sexy, playful contradiction about the moment you realize you didn’t quite mean your goodbye, and how easy it is to romanticize something you meant to let go.”
The single serves as an introductory track to A Fearful & Wondrous Thing, which Herrera says is an extremely personal artistic statement.
“At its core, this record is an arrival, both to life and to myself as an artist. I’m a late bloomer who spent years believing I wasn’t someone who could accomplish great things, which kept me rooted in anxiety and self-doubt,” she said. “These songs came after I finally broke free of that story, and they reflect a life lived in full, complete with love, grief, mystery, joy, and all the beautiful chaos of being alive.”
In honor of the release of her album, the artist is performing live at Bowery Palace in New York City on June 4. You can purchase tickets on sale now.
