A 32-year-old mother of six reportedly drowned as she became trapped headfirst between rocks near the sea wall due to rising tide levels, according to an inquest.

The 32-year-old Saffron Cole-Nottage fell while taking her dog and daughter for a walk along the seaside in Lowestoft, becoming trapped headfirst with just her legs above water level.

Efforts were made by people around to release Cole-Nottage as she struggled and shouted to be freed from the boulders, as people witnessed a long wait before emergency services came and found she had suffocated during the process.

A blood test carried out on the victim’s body indicated that the concentration of alcohol in her blood exceeded the permissible amount three times over, which was 271 mg per 100 ml.
