Naomi Osaka Pulls Out Of The French Open Due To A Hamstring Injury

The US Open champion will not play the final Grand Slam event of the year, scheduled to begin in Paris on September 27. She becomes the second player to pull out of the championship after world No. 1 Ash Barty announced she won’t defend her French Open title.

“Unfortunately I won’t be able to play the French Open this year. My hamstring is still sore so I won’t have enough time to prepare for the clay – these tournaments came too close to each other for me this time.”

The withdrawal of third-ranked Naomi Osaka means French Open will be missing two of the world’s top three, after reigning champion Ashleigh Barty said earlier this month that she wouldn’t return to defend her title.
