Naturi Naughton has had one of the best trajectories as an entertainer and if you have been a fan of hers since she was in the famous girl group 3LW then you know exactly what I am talking about!
Naughton is back and back with a bang on a brand new ABC drama called “Queens,” which is a new show starring rapper EVE, singer Brandy and actress Nadine Velazquez. The show follows four women who are now in their 40s who want to reunite 20 years later after their hip hop girl group breaks up. Naturi, who was a part of the very famous girl group 3LW back in the early 2000’s could relate to her character von Queens very much.
I had the opportunity to chat with Naturi and she was very candid and opened up about how her tv character Jill from Queens related so much to who she was in real life. Naturi and 3LW went through a very public break up back in the 2000s and she stated that when she was reading the script , she started to connect to the role so much and relate to the character that was one of the reasons she joined the cast.
Naturi opened up about one episode where the women have to “fake it” and it brought back memories for her. She reflected on when 3LW appeared on the hit MTV show “Cribs” and how the “crib” was rented and not even the girls! They had to rent the house, cars and after the shoot, clean up the house and be out by a certain time. As a millennial myself who was obsessed with Cribs at the time, Naturi answered the question that I have been asking for 20 years!
