Netflix MMA Event Draws Nearly 17 Million Viewers as Ronda Rousey Submits Gina Carano in 17 Seconds

Former UFC champion Rousey (13-2) applied her signature move to defeat Gina Carano (7-2) in the main event of the Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) triple-header Saturday night at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The triple-header averaged almost 17 million viewers globally, according to VideoAmp, G&G Closed Circuit Events, and Netflix.

The triple main card averaged 12.4 million Live+1 viewers globally and 9.3 million in the United States. Rousey vs. Carano generated 1 billion impressions on Netflix’s social media channels globally and topped Twitter trends in the U.S. all night, with related topics such as Nate Diaz, Jake Paul, MVP MMA, and Netflix MMA trending. In Brazil, the match ranked No. 1, while in the UK it ranked No. 3.

Mike Perry (15-8) “King of Violence” won in the co-main event via technical knockout before the end of the third round over Nate Diaz (22-14). Francis Ngannou (19-3) closed the triple main card with a knockout win over Philipe Lins (18-6) in the opening round.

Ringside seats at Saturday’s event included actors James Cameron, Dax Shepard, and David Spade; musicians Tommy Lee and Diplo; athletes Barry Bonds, Marshawn Lynch, Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, CM Punk, Alycia Baumgardner, Puka Nacua, and Jared Verse; entertainers Michael Irvin, Sebastian Maniscalco, Carmen Electra, Lilly Singh, Big Boy, and Cameron Dallas; as well as “Nemesis” stars Matthew Law and Ylan Noel from Netflix.

Saturday’s event marked Netflix and MVP’s fourth live collaboration after Paul vs. Tyson, Taylor vs. Serrano III, and Paul vs. Joshua. The card was co-produced by MVP and EverWonder.
