Netflix has announced the premiere of the highly anticipated Korean drama series “When Life Gives You Tangerines” (WT). With a stellar cast and acclaimed creators, the series is set to captivate audiences worldwide.
With acclaimed producer Kim Won-suk at the helm, known for hits like “Misaeng: Incomplete Life” and “Signal,” and mastermind Lim Sang-chun at the helm, known for hits like “Fight for My Way” and “When the Camellia Blooms,” expectations for this collaboration are high.
The story takes place on the picturesque Jeju Island, following the adventures of Ae-sun, played by the extremely talented IU. As the “remarkable rebel,” IU’s portrayal promises to add depth and determination to the character and marks her second collaboration with producer Kim Won-suk.
Park Bo-gum, the charismatic actor opposite IU, plays Gwan-sik, a character described as “unyielding iron.” Park Bo-gum, who has an impressive portfolio that includes hits like “Love in the Moonlight” and “Encounter,” is expected to bring life to the steadfast man with a long-standing crush on Ae-sun.
Moon So-ri and Park Hae-joon play the older versions of Ae-sun and Gwan-sik, adding intrigue. Their seasoned performances in previous projects, such as “Three Sisters” and “My Mister,” promise to elevate the series and provide a nuanced perspective on the characters’ lives.
The title, “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” refers to the Jeju dialect and translates as “Thank you for your hard work.” This cultural authenticity, combined with Jeju Island’s picturesque backdrop, creates the setting for a one-of-a-kind and captivating storyline.
