Netflix is set to tantalize audiences once again with its latest series, “Doctor Climax,” diving headfirst into the taboo world of sexuality in the 1970s. Following the success of “The Believers,” which sparked nationwide conversations on faith, this new show promises to ignite discussions around carnal desires and societal norms of yesteryear.

Directed by the talented duo of Kongdej Jaturanrasmee, renowned for the globally acclaimed “HUNGER,” and Pairach Khumwan, a mastermind behind the hit series “Girl From Nowhere,” “Doctor Climax” thrusts viewers into an era where open discussions about sex were strictly forbidden.

Set against the backdrop of societal repression, the series revolves around Doctor Nat, portrayed by Ter-Chantavit Dhanasevi, a dermato-venereologist turned unlikely columnist. Tasked with helming “The Climax Question,” a risqué advice column addressing everything from masturbation to STDs, Doctor Nat finds himself embroiled in a web of secrecy and desire.

As Doctor Nat delves deeper into the world of sexual exploration, he forms a forbidden connection with Linda, played by Goy-Arachaporn Pokinpakorn, the head of the publisher’s art department. Their burgeoning romance threatens not only Doctor Nat’s marriage to his seemingly perfect wife, Tukta, portrayed by Praew-Chermawee Suwanpanuchoke but also his family’s esteemed reputation.

The series boasts an exceptional ensemble cast, including Tonhon Tantivejakul as Permpol and Tob-Chaiwat Thongsang as Thong Tien, among others, each bringing their flair to the enthralling narrative.

For Kongdej Jaturanrasmee, “Doctor Climax” marks his directorial debut in television, with the series exploring poignant themes of humanity and society, intertwined with real-world events of the era. Collaborator Pairach Khumwan believes the show’s relevance lies in its ability to shed light on a bygone era while provoking modern-day reflections.

With each episode resembling a standalone cinematic experience, “Doctor Climax” promises to captivate audiences with its diverse storytelling techniques and thought-provoking narratives.

Prepare to be transported to a time where conversations about sex were whispered behind closed doors as “Doctor Climax” premieres exclusively on Netflix on June 13th, inviting viewers to explore the uncharted territories of desire and intimacy.
