Minnesota authorities have reportedly obtained a thumb drive that may contain a recording of O.J. Simpson confessing to the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. According to a search warrant obtained by TMZ, Bloomington Police were tipped off about the existence of the recording in June 2024—two months after Simpson’s death.
The tip originated from a meeting between Simpson’s former bodyguard, Iroc Avelli, his attorney, and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Avelli allegedly claimed that a green backpack in his possession contained multiple thumb drives, including one with an audio confession from Simpson.
The Search and Investigation
After being alerted by an LAPD detective, Bloomington Police seized the backpack and its contents. To analyze the thumb drives, they sought a separate search warrant. The legal maneuver highlights the gravity of the investigation, but authorities have yet to confirm whether any incriminating evidence has been uncovered.
Adding to the intrigue is an alleged reference to a third party in the recording. While details remain scarce, this has raised questions about whether someone else may have been involved in the 1994 murders, which captivated the nation and led to one of the most famous trials in U.S. history.
The Simpson Legacy
O.J. Simpson was acquitted of the murders in 1995 after a highly publicized criminal trial, though a civil court later found him liable for the wrongful deaths of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. Despite his acquittal, speculation about Simpson’s guilt persisted for decades.
His death in April 2024 brought an end to his controversial life, but if the alleged confession exists, it could reignite debates about the case. The potential involvement of a third party also raises questions about whether the full story of that fateful night was ever uncovered.
What’s Next?
Minnesota police have not disclosed whether they have reviewed the contents of the thumb drive or if it corroborates the claims made by Avelli. For now, the case remains shrouded in mystery, leaving legal analysts and the public alike to speculate about what, if anything, this new evidence could reveal.
The LAPD and Bloomington Police have declined to comment further on the investigation, and it remains unclear when—or if—the recording will be made public.
