Gigi Hadid Criticizes Israel for Keeping Palestinian Children in Captivity After Trade Deal

Gigi Hadid, a 28-year-old supermodel, has used her platform to express her support for Palestine in the midst of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

On Friday, November 24th, Gigi condemned Israel in a series of posts on her Instagram account. The Victoria’s Secret model spoke about young Palestinian Ahmed Manasra, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia and depression. Ahmed was arrested in 2015 for stabbing and injuring two Israeli citizens in Pisgat Zeev.

“Israel is the only country in the world that keeps CHILDREN AS PRISONERS OF WAR,” Gigi wrote in a now-deleted post. “ABDUCTION. HUMILIATION. TORTURE. MURDER OF PALESTINIANS. YEARS AND YEARS AND YEARS. BEFORE Oct 7, 2023.”

She also reshared a post that claimed: “Israeli authorities detain an average of 500 – 700 Palestinian children each year.” The children were “beaten,” “strip-searched,” “arrested at night,” and “isolated in solitary confinement,” according to the post.

In the following slide, Gigi stated that “Israel is the ONLY country in the world that systematically prosecutes minors in military courts and accepts confessions obtained by coercion.”

Gigi also criticized Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, saying, “Israel sees any Palestinian as a ‘terrorist,’ any person supporting Palestinian rights as ‘antisemite,’ and any Jew that is opposed to the government’s actions as ‘self-hating’ – even telling them to denounce their Judaism. So… everyone is lying and wrong, except Israel?! If it isn’t evil and disturbing, it would be comedic.”

Bella Hadid, Gigi’s sister, is also a vocal supporter of Palestine. “I’ve been sent hundreds of death threats daily, my phone number leaked, my email, my home address, my family’s address, my mom’s address, my sister’s address,” Bella wrote on Instagram. “I woke up this morning to my dad being called a filthy Arab terrorist.”
