Nipsey Hussle was multiple times today at the Marathon Store. This the same neighborhood that Nipsey Hussle grew up. He’s been building and helping his community. He created the Marathon Store and started Vector 90 with David Gross. Vector 90 is a stem center in the Crenshaw District.

Nipsey released multiple mixtapes over the course of his 10-plus year career but just dropped his first studio album last year. It’s called “Victory Lap” … which got him a Grammy nod for Best Rap Album just a month ago. Nipsey lost out to Cardi B at the award show.

Nipsey’s got four mixtapes under his belt dating back to 2005. He dropped 10 projects independently before releasing his debut album, which was distributed through his own record label, All Money In, and Atlantic Records.

He was also going to release a documentary about Dr. Sebi this year. Alfredo Darrington Bowman, better known as Dr. Sebi, was a Honduran herbalist and self-proclaimed healer.Bowman claimed to cure all disease with herbs and a unique vegan diet based on various pseudoscience claims. His diet was based on the discredited alkaline diet. His beliefs on the origin of disease denied germ theory and taught that HIV is not the cause of AIDS,and factored in faux-afrocentric claims about the unique genetic characteristics of Africans and its diaspora.

In 1987, New York City charged him with a criminal charge of practicing medicine without a license and for saying a cured all these different type of diseases when there was no cure. Dr. Sebi made the New York Attorney General look silly when he had 77 people come to his defense that he did cure them. After the trial, the New York Attorney General sued for consumer fraud and prevented him from making therapeutic claims for his products. The country would lose billions if not trillions of dollars if Dr. Sebi started to cure everyone with Diabetes, Aids, and other diseases.

Our condolences go out to everyone associated with Nipsey. This is a sad for the culture
