Olivia Rodrigo may be about to create history once again with her latest release, “Drop Dead,” which she may take to No. 1 on the upcoming Billboard Hot 100.
Should she reach No. 1 with “Drop Dead,” Rodrigo will earn her fourth No. 1 hit in the United States, thereby making her the first artist in history to debut their lead single from each of their first three studio albums in the No. 1 position.
Already, the song has made quite an impression on the streaming charts, currently sitting atop the U.S. Spotify chart, with over 2.45 million streams in just two days since its release.
Moreover, the streaming performance of Rodrigo’s singles continues to improve, with “Drop Dead” no exception. The artist continues to post better debut numbers for her songs on the global Spotify chart than in previous releases. Her previous leads have recorded debuts of 1.54 million streams (“Drivers License”), 9.79 million (“Vampire”), and now “Drop Dead” with 10.71 million.
The new single debuted with the biggest number of streams on Spotify since 2026 among all singles by female artists.
In terms of global debut numbers, “Drop Dead” is currently No. 4, beaten only by “SWIM” (14.64 million), “Aperture” (12.47 million), and “Body to Body” (11.18 million). Others in the category are “Hooligan” (8.73 million), “American Girls” (8.31 million), “FYA” (8.07 million), “Aliens” (7.75 million), “2.0” (7.38 million), and “Merry Go Round” (7.23 million).
