As the premiere date with Investigation Discovery draws near for Chris Brown: A History of Violence, one of the females documented has made her voice heard via social media. Liziane Gutierrez, who claims to be one of Brown’s victims, went on Instagram to speak on the accusations she made in the documentary set to air on October 27.
In her post, an emotional and psychologically drained Liziane pointed out the aftermath of speaking out, adding that she faced a barrage of negative labels over these years, including “liar” and “clout chaser.” Despite the perils, she said, she felt the moral duty to tell her story. “I’m not sure if I am psychologically ready to face the consequences of showing up in this documentary; there are also financial consequences since I signed a non-disclosure agreement,” Gutierrez wrote.
Gutierrez said she felt a greater responsibility to speak out in defense of other alleged victims, adding, “Several women agreed to participate and share their stories. We all went through a similar situation.” She mentioned how each case of domestic violence is seen and not hidden or put on the victim’s shoulders.
The post was also accompanied by a cryptic message to Brown. Gutierrez let it be known that she had turned over evidence of an incident between her and the singer to documentary producers in 2016. She concluded her post with a very provocative question that suggested Brown paid her off for her silence: “If someone is lying about you, would you pay for their silence?
The allegations against Brown remain controversial as the release of the documentary approaches, and many are eager to watch the testimonies provided by the women. Several times, Brown has been accused of assault in the past, and he has not made public any comments regarding Gutierrez’s recent allegations.
This will be a documentary that shows the dark side of this artist’s life; testimonies like Gutierrez’s most likely will spur even more questions about his past actions.
