Netflix has renewed Outer Banks for a fifth and final season, it was announced today, much to the excitement of fans on Monday. Fresh off the heels of its second annual Poguelandia: An Outer Banks Experience which took place November 2 at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Over 2,500 of its most ardent fans-who affectionately refer to themselves as “Pogues”-attended this fully immersive fan experience filled with back-to-back live performances, merchandise availability, and a deep dive into the Outer Banks universe.
Attendees treated themselves to live performances by a star-studded lineup including Jungle, GloRilla, Remi Wolf, and Chase B. The event also doubled as a launchpad for the forthcoming Outer Banks Season 4, Part 2 launching on November 7. The event reached its climax when cast members, including Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, Austin North, and Fiona Palomo surprised fans with an on-stage reveal of Season 4, Part 2 trailer in a jaw-dropping moment.
But aside from the music, the fans were able to immerse themselves in so many of the familiar show locales. There were intricate set recreations of favorite spots like JJ’s Charter Boat House, the bunk house, and the Kildare Co. Surfboard Shop, in which attendees could grab exclusive pieces from the Pacsun x OBX collection. For anyone unable to travel to Santa Monica, Pogues will have Outer Banks merchandise from ASOS, Lottie London, Byrd, and Netflix.Shop to show your inner Pogue spirit.
Photo ops galore abounded, just like out of the show, with the Bait House-themed entrance, the Pogue’s iconic porch, the “Welcome to the Outer Banks, Paradise on Earth” sign, and even the signature van, Twinkie, beside the inflatable chicken that caught everybody’s attention. And to top it all off, they had thematic food and drinks, and menus inspired by the hotspots within Outer Banks, namely The Wreck, Heyward’s Seafood, Cleo’s Spice Shack, and The Boneyard.
The event was possible because of Netflix’s Tudum fan platform, but also offered an opportunity for fans to score free tickets and even enter to win a grand prize trip to Santa Monica. This year’s Poguelandia marks the continuation of a tradition that started in Huntington Beach in 2023, celebrating the fan community that has turned Outer Banks into a modern cultural phenomenon.
That wasn’t the only big fan experience for Outer Banks followers this year. In October, Netflix started a world “Pogue Tour,” where the cast visited seven cities around the globe. The tour started in Charleston, South Carolina-where the show has shot across its four seasons-at a fan premiere event for Season 4, Part 1. The fans attending got to see the red-carpet arrivals by the cast and an early screening of the season premiere.
The Pogue Tour made stops across cities and unique fan experiences worldwide. In Toronto, for instance, fans were treated to a concert with Arkells, one of the most popular bands in Canada. At the Florida State vs. University of Miami football game, cast members tailgated with fans, handing out branded coconuts and rally towels. Seattle fans saw cast members dive into Pike Place Market’s tradition of fish-throwing, before meeting fans at the University of Washington. Meanwhile, the tour included an Outer Banks trivia and pizza party in Chicago, and a line-dancing night at Neon Boots in Houston. The trek wrapped up with an Outer Banks-themed pop-up in Salvador, Brazil.
Part 1 is now streaming, while Part 2 will drop on November 7. With that said, fans are beyond excited to see what’s going to be a thrilling ending to the adventures of the Pogues. The fifth season marks the end of Outer Banks, but Netflix’s celebration worldwide and a dedicated fan base prove its legacy is here to stay.
