Sherrone Moore has been discharged for cause, a statement from the university released on Wednesday. He was let go by Michigan for engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” said Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel.
“Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”
Moore was let go immediately, and Biff Poggi became the interim head coach. Moore coached Michigan to a 7-5 record in his initial season, which came as a result of Jim Harbaugh joining the NFL.
This year, Michigan finished 9-3 and will play Texas in the Citrus Bowl. Now, though, it seems like MU has a problem with their former head coach. Moore, 39, finished his first season 8-5 but then followed that up with a 9-3 record this year.

This situation also affects Sherrone’s wife, Kelli Moore, who finds herself in this challenging public matter. The couple has been married since 2015, and they share three daughters named Shiloh, Solei, and Sadie.
It’s still too early, but finding a new head coach would be a good starting point. Moore has issues to resolve at home before taking a look somewhere else.
