During a live stream for the Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia press conference on DAZN, a major revelation unfolded, sending shockwaves through the combat sports world. It was accidentally leaked that Paige VanZant, former UFC star turned BKFC fighter, could potentially headline Misfits 15 against influencer boxer Elle Brooke on Saturday, May 25.
While neither Misfits, VanZant, nor Brooke have officially confirmed the bout, speculation is rampant following the inadvertent disclosure during the DAZN broadcast. Mams Taylor, the head of Misfits, added fuel to the fire with cryptic tweets following the leak, hinting at a significant event on the horizon.
Paige VanZant, with a record of 8-5 in MMA and 0-2 in BKFC, has been out of action since July 2021 when she suffered a decision loss to Rachael Ostovich. Before her BKFC stint, VanZant competed in the UFC, where she garnered a record of 5-4 before departing with a submission loss to Amanda Ribas.
VanZant recently declared that she would be open to a boxing match and expressed her excitement for one, saying, “It was initially, the date they offered me was March 23, which was perfect… So I told my manager f*** yeah, I’ll take it.” However, the proposed date was later postponed to May or June, aligning with the potential Misfits 15 event.
Her potential opponent, Elle Brooke, boasts a 4-1 record as a boxer and has gained prominence as a women’s influencer in the sport. Brooke’s most recent victory came in January, where she secured a knockout win over AJ Bunker for the second time in her career.
The possibility of VanZant vs. Brooke has sparked excitement in the combat sports industry while fans wait for formal confirmation; many are excited to see the fight between the former UFC standout and the rising influencer boxer.
