STARZ has released the official trailer, character art, and key art for the highly anticipated third season of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” which is set to return on December 1st.

The upcoming season continues to explore the origin story of the beloved character Kanan Stark (MeKai Curtis), who was originally portrayed by 50 Cent in the original series, by delving deeper into his transformation from a devoted son to the ferocious and morally ambiguous personality that fans are familiar with from “Power.”

The third season of “Raising Kanan” picks up where we left off, in Southside Jamaica Queens, with the Thomas family in disarray following a mob hit. Raquel, Marvin, and Lou-Lou are still in critical condition following the attack. Raquel, determined to start over, is met with skepticism from Kanan, who questions her motives. Can she truly escape the criminal underworld?

The trailer implies that the truth is not always what it appears to be, and Kanan has previously been betrayed. In addition, the trailer shows the return of Italian mob boss Stefano (Tony Danza) as well as the introduction of two new adversaries, “Snaps” and “Pop” (Wendell Pierce and Erika Woods).

Kanan Stark has slowly learned the truth about not only his mother but also himself over the last two seasons of “Raising Kanan.” It has been a difficult journey for him and those around him. Kanan has been forced to confront his family’s seemingly never-ending web of secrets and lies with each new revelation. Kanan has spent much of this time in denial, but his blinders have finally come off, and he doesn’t like what he sees.

In season three, Kanan is faced with the internal struggle of determining what is right and wrong, good and evil, fidelity and disloyalty. He is not the only one going through this ordeal. Each member of the Thomas family is confronted with an existential crisis that challenges their very sense of self.

Whether it is Marvin, who is still striving for redemption, or Raq, who is finally being honest, or Lou, who is battling his own inner darkness, or Jukebox, who simply wants to escape her family’s destructive patterns, they are all attempting to redefine and recreate themselves. Not everyone will succeed in this deeply personal journey, but for those who do, they may discover the most terrifying truth of all: there is no definitive right or wrong, good or evil. There are no absolute truths. Ultimately, it all comes down to you.

“Power Book III: Raising Kanan” is the second series in the expanded “Power” Universe franchise. Sascha Penn serves as showrunner and executive producer for season three.

The “Power” Universe series is executive produced by the creator and showrunner of the original “Power,” Courtney A. Kemp through her production company End of Episode, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through G-Unit Film and Television, and Mark Canton through Atmosphere Entertainment MM. Chris Selak, Kevin Fox, Santa Sierra, and Tash Grey also serve as executive producers. Lionsgate Television produces the series for STARZ.

New episodes of the show will be released weekly on Fridays at midnight ET on the STARZ app and other streaming platforms. On linear television, the show will debut on STARZ at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada.
