A viral video by conservative influencer Priya Patel sparked a major debate on immigration and assimilation. The video received millions of views and thousands of critical comments.
On March 26, Patel created the viral video, stating, “this is your friendly reminder that immigration without assimilation is invasion. Got it?” The video went viral, collecting over 10 million views.
However, the tweet received over 2,000 critical comments, mostly mocking the influencer’s Indian last name.
Critics accused her of hypocrisy, called for her to leave the country, and claimed she hates herself.
One comment read, “Your last name is Patel. Don’t tell me about immigration, leave.” The next comment was, “I actually don’t care about assimilation. I don’t want people named Priya Patel in my country.” The next comment said, “The funny thing is that both white nationalists and Indians want her deported in the QT and comments.”
The situation worsened for the influencer when she continued her statement the next day, calling for the mass deportation of immigrants. In her tweet on X, she stated, “We desperately need more mass deportations! Starting with Ilhan Omar.”
While some people praised her statement, others, such as Razib Khan, supported her right to speak her mind in the United States.
Critics continued commenting on her statement, saying, “That’s fine, but you need to go to PRIYA.” The next comment was, “How about we start with Indians, particularly Patels, specifically you?” The next comment said, “She needs to be the first one to go and sit in the front of the bus to the airport.”
