Former Bachelorette stars Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo have decided to end their four-year marriage. The couple, who initially met and got engaged during the 13th season of The Bachelorette in 2017, are now parting ways, with Abasolo filing for divorce and seeking spousal support.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE MAGAZINE, Abasolo officially filed for divorce, citing a separation date of December 31, 2023, and identifying their North Hollywood home as community property. This marks the end of a union that began with a destination wedding in Mexico on August 24, 2019, where the couple exchanged vows surrounded by the scenic beauty of the destination.

Despite their public appearances together, the duo, who do not have any children, have decided to go their separate ways. Abasolo took to social media on Tuesday to address the breakup, emphasizing his commitment to maintaining a safe space for their family.

“If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I don’t like to put my personal affairs on social media and like to keep a safe space for our family,” Abasolo wrote. “After more than 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start anew.”

Acknowledging the challenges of letting go, Abasolo expressed the importance of self-love and mutual respect in relationships. He urged followers to respect the privacy of their family and friends during this transitional period.

The timing of the separation is notable, coming just a month after the couple attended Project Angel Food’s Thanksgiving event together, radiating happiness on the red carpet. Similarly, in early November, they appeared joyous at the Alzheimer’s Association Peace of Mind Luncheon in Beverly Hills, California.

Lindsay, 38, and Abasolo, 43, embarked on their relationship as a long-distance couple, but in 2021, Abasolo made a significant move from Miami, Florida, to Los Angeles, California, to live together. Despite efforts to bridge the gap, the challenges ultimately led to the difficult decision to part ways.

As the reality stars navigate this new chapter, fans, and followers are left to reflect on the transient nature of love and the complex dynamics that can unfold even in seemingly picture-perfect unions.
