Racist Student Wearing Blackface at Homestead High School Goes Viral

Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana is going viral after some of their white students were caught making racist remarks on social media.

An Instagram user named (@shanelltanaye._) posted a picture and video of her racist classmates on Instagram.

On one of the slides, you can see a picture of a white girl smiling in blackface and another slide shows a girl making offensive and derogatory comments about Harriet Tubman on Snapchat.

Shanell’s Instagram caption said: “I thought going to homestead high school I would feel safe and that my WHITE peers would make me feel welcome…. WRONG!! Everyday me and my black peers deal with racist situations whether it’s white kids making backhand racial comments or even throwing food at us. These are the types of things Homestead condones because all they do is “talk to” the white students. This particular situation they said to my mom they aren’t going to do anything to the girl in blackface because “she didn’t break any school rules” HOMESTEAD HIGH SCHOOL is a JOKE!! Their staff is a joke and discrimination against their Black students is acceptable to them! But since the black kids feel like they can’t stand up for themselves due to racism and discrimination I will.”

The students that were making racist remarks got into a fight at school. A video uploaded by one of their classmates shows when the racist girls got confronted about their behavior.

Multiple protests from students and other members of the community occurred over the situation.

The controversy became so out of control after two juveniles got arrested for posting a picture of a weapon on Snapchat that said, “Tell Emma to come out,” the students were reportedly in the parking lot of Homestead High School.

Allen County Sheriff’s Department revealed the suspect was a student from another school outside of Southwest Allen County Schools district.
