Real Madrid Dominate Atalanta to Claim Sixth European Super Cup

Real Madrid secured their sixth European Super Cup title with a commanding 2-0 victory over Atalanta in the final played in Warsaw. The match marked the competitive debut of highly-anticipated signing Kylian Mbappé.

Both sides entered the contest cautiously, with neither creating clear-cut opportunities in the opening stages. Atalanta posed the first significant threat when a cross from Marten de Roon struck the crossbar after being deflected by Éder Militão. Real Madrid responded with a chance of their own, as Rodrygo’s powerful left-footed effort crashed against the woodwork.

The second half saw a more open encounter, with Real Madrid gradually asserting their dominance. The breakthrough came in the 59th minute when Federico Valverde converted a precise pass from Vinicius Júnior, who Jude Bellingham had set up. Bellingham’s influence was evident once again just nine minutes later as he found Mbappé with a perfectly weighted pass, allowing the Frenchman to calmly slot home his first goal for the club.

Real Madrid’s attacking prowess, spearheaded by the impressive Bellingham and the clinical finishing of Valverde and Mbappé, proved too much for Atalanta to handle. The Italian side was unable to find a way back into the game, and Real Madrid comfortably held on to claim the trophy.

The victory solidifies Real Madrid’s position as one of European football’s most successful clubs and sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting season.
