On Tuesday, The Athletic reported that Peterson was in debt and being sued in Pennsylvania for failing to pay back a $5.2 million loan. Following the news, his attorney Chase Carlson issued a statement, calling the dilemma “another situation of an athlete trusting the wrong people.”

Despite being the highest-earning running back in NFL history (nearly $100M), Adrian Peterson owes millions to a Pa. lender and now faces a third adverse judgment over delinquent loans totaling nearly $10m.
How do we still keep hearing these stories even today? I can’t blame the NFLPA because I know they have provided information resources to players for some time now.
It’d been fairly common knowledge among NFL teams that Peterson was having financial problems. Another sad story, too many of these in the league.
