Rep. Lauren Boebert Pushes Legislation to Fund $400M White House Ballroom, Calls It a National Security Issue: ‘It Needs to Be Done

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, R-CO, claims she is working on a bill to secure Congress’ support and possibly their funds for the construction of a ballroom in the White House, estimated at $400 million. Boebert attempts to sell the idea by framing it as a national security issue.

“I’m working on legislation to ensure that we are getting the ballroom funded. It’s obviously a national security element to that, and it needs to be done,” Rep. Boebert told Pablo Reports.

Boebert did not try to conceal the fact that taxpayers’ money might be used to pay for the construction project. However, she claims the amount of those expenditures would not be big. “There’s like hardly any money here that is actually going to that. He has it, he has it funded. We just have to get it approved and get the lawsuit over with,” the Congresswoman argued.

Originally intended to have a bunker design, the project has recently faced serious legal troubles after being sued by historic preservation advocates. According to Boebert, a lawsuit against the plan was filed after some women walked by and thought that “it’s ugly.”

“I cannot believe that a judge allowed a woman to. He approved her lawsuit because she walked by with her dog and thought it was ugly,” Rep. Boebert said.

Now Republicans intend to get Congress not only to approve but also potentially fund the project. The attempt was initiated after the shooting took place at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner event. Boebert asked if historic preservation requirements in Congress were hindering the process. “Is it an issue of the Congressional Registry of Historic Places? What’s the authorization process there?”
