Rep. Yassamin Ansari, D-Ariz., has denounced President Donald Trump after the commander in chief posted a photo of himself with glowing hands healing an older man, set against an array of American flags, eagles, fighter aircraft, and celestial objects.
In a post on X (Twitter), Ansari expressed that Trump was “beyond mentally unstable.”
The post attracted criticism, not only for its content but also for its timing. Indeed, Trump posted shortly after verbally lashing out at the pope, a combination, according to Ansari and others, that made things even worse. This post received mixed reactions, with some labeling the content as blasphemous, pointing out that Trump portrayed himself as the Messiah or Christ-like figure, while others either supported the post or ignored critics’ claims.
However, some comments went beyond criticizing the content of Trump’s post. “This man has access to the nuclear codes of the most sophisticated missile silos in the world,” a concerned citizen wrote. “God forbid he orders a launch.”
Other comments revealed citizens’ frustration with the lack of reaction from Congress, with one person saying, “We elected people because we trusted them to do more than just tweet about how awful it is that the president is a jerk,” adding that, in case Congress failed to act according to the 25th Amendment, citizens might consider doing so themselves.
“The guy who cheated on his wife with a p*rn actress thinks he is a Saint!” another Twitter user wrote.
At the time of writing, Ansari’s office had not responded to the inquiries, and the White House had no record of any regarding the congresswoman’s comments.
