The official trailer for the highly anticipated Amazon Original series Gen V, which is set in the world of The Boys, was released today by Prime Video.
Set in The Boys’ diabolical world, Gen V expands the universe to include Godolkin University, a prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes—preferably with lucrative endorsements. You’ve seen what happens when superheroes go bad, but not all superheroes are corrupt from the start. Aside from the usual college craziness of finding oneself and partying, these students are in potentially explosive situations… literally. As students compete for popularity and good grades, it’s clear that when superpowers are involved, the stakes are much higher. When a group of young superheroes discovers that something more sinister is going on at school, they must decide whether they will be the heroes or the villains of their stories.
Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi star in the series.
Clancy Brown and Jason Ritter make appearances, as do Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and P.J. Byrne, who reprise their roles from The Boys.
The showrunners and executive producers are Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters. Executive producers include Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Craig Rosenberg, Nelson Cragg, Zak Schwartz, Erica Rosbe, and Michaela Starr.

Prime Video announced today that it has ordered a 10-episode third season of the global hit series The Summer I Turned Pretty.
The drama series is based on Jenny Han‘s best-selling book trilogy and has been a breakout success, performing especially well with young female viewers.
The second season of The Summer I Turned Pretty is one of the top ten most-watched seasons of any show on the service.
The second season premiered on July 14 and quickly more than doubled Season One’s viewership.
“We’ve been delighted to see the passion with which fans have embraced The Summer I Turned Pretty, making Summer Fridays an entertainment phenomenon,” says Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon, and MGM Studios. “This charming, deeply heartfelt series has shown the breadth of our customer base, appealing to a young, diverse set of viewers. Jenny Han is a gifted storyteller, whose fans have been clamoring for the third chapter of this story. We’re excited today to share the news that they have a lot more Summer to look forward to. Thank you to Jenny, Sarah Kucserka, Karen Rosenfelt, and our friends at wiip for their remarkable work and partnership.”
Season Three was approved prior to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Season Three will not begin until labor negotiations with those unions are completed.
Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka are the showrunners for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3. Executive producers for wiip include Han, Kucserka, and Karen Rosenfelt, as well as Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee. Amazon Studios and wiip collaborated on the series.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is a multigenerational drama about a love triangle involving one girl and two brothers, the ever-changing relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship. It’s a coming-of-age story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of one summer.
The Summer I Turned Pretty’s second season is now available on Prime Video, with new episodes released weekly until the season finale on Friday, August 18, 2023.
Season Three of the Amazon Original series will be available exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The highly anticipated new series, Gen V, will usher in a new generation of superheroes to Prime Video. The premiere date and poster for The Boys spinoff were revealed by Netflix on Thursday.
Gen V will premiere the first three episodes of season 1 on Friday, September 29th before continuing weekly until the season finale on November 3rd.
Furthermore, the first trailer for the series features Jaz Sinclair’s debut as Marie Moreau, a role first teased with a photograph in The Boys season 3 episode “The Only Man in the Sky.”
Gen V “explores the training of the first generation of superheroes to know about Compound V, and that their powers were injected into them, rather than God-given,” according to Prime Video. These young, competitive heroes put their physical and moral limits to the test as they competed for the school’s coveted top ranking.”
In addition, they quickly discover that striving for success requires sacrifice and that, contrary to what they initially thought, there is no simple line dividing right and wrong. Students must decide what kind of heroes they will become when the university’s dark secrets are revealed.
Gen V also stars Chance Perdomo as Andre Anderson, Lizze Broadway as Emma Shaw, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, London Thor and Derek Luh as Jordan, Asa Germann as Sam Riordan, and Shelley Conn in addition to Sinclair as Marie. Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays Golden Boy, Sean Patrick Thomas, who plays Polarity, and Marco Pigossi, who plays Doctor Edison Cardosa, all have recurring roles.
Clancy Brown and Jason Ritter will appear as guests, as will Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie, and P.J. Byrne, who will reprise their roles as Reggie Franklin, Ashley Barrett, and Adam Bourke from The Boys. Jensen Ackles has also confirmed that he will appear as Soldier Boy in the series.
Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, who previously worked on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, serve as showrunners and executive producers.
The spinoff series’ executive producers include Brant Englestein, Sarah Carbiener, Lisa Kussner, Gabriel Garcia, Aisha Porter-Christie, Judalina Neira, and Loreli Alans, in addition to Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, and Nelson Cragg.
The new series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios in collaboration with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.
Meanwhile, the poster and release date for Gen V come months after Prime Video first debuted a brief video of season 1, teasing what’s to come from the spinoff.
The Summer I Turned Pretty on Prime Video begins a Taylor Swift tradition with its melancholy Season 2 teaser trailer.
The new footage from the show’s upcoming season, like the Season 1 trailer, is perfectly accompanied by another Taylor Swift song — “august,” from her eighth album folklore.
Many pages from the second book, It’s Not Summer Without You, are literally leaping off the page to the big screen in the second season, as will fans of Jenny Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty book trilogy, on which the show is based.
In particular, a fleeting glimpse of Belly’s Prom night with Christopher Briney’s Conrad adds to the season’s first-look images. Book readers know exactly how that ends.
Jeremiah’s longing gaze toward Lola Tung’s Belly suggests that this love triangle is far from over. Surprisingly, the trailer’s only spoken line comes from Gavin Casalegno, when Jeremiah tells her and his brother, “We get it. “You guys are into each other,” Belly says when she wears the infinity necklace from Season 1.
“Belly used to count down the days until she could return to Cousins Beach,” according to the Season 2 synopsis of The Summer I Turned Pretty, “but with Conrad and Jeremiah fighting over her heart and the return of Susannah’s cancer, she’s not sure summer will ever be the same.”
“When an unexpected visitor threatens the future of Susannah’s beloved house, Belly has to rally the gang to come together—and to decide once and for all where her heart lies.”
The teaser trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty also alluded to deeper stories for Taylor, Belly’s best friend, and her brother Steven because Rain Spencer and Sean Kaufman are returning as series regulars.
David Iacono returns as a recurring guest as Cam Cameron, with Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher also appearing in recurring roles. In addition, Jackie Chung and Rachel Blanchard will appear.
Jenny Han and Sarah Kucserka star in Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Executive producers include Han, Kucserka, Karen Rosenfelt, and Gabrielle Stanton, as well as Hope Hartman, Mads Hansen, and Paul Lee for wiip. The show is a collaboration between Amazon Studios and wiip.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Friday, July 14, with three episodes. New episodes will be released on a weekly basis until the season finale on August 18.
