23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams announced her tennis career is winding down, citing her desire to grow her family.

Williams shared her thoughts about her future in a first-person essay in Vogue Magazine.

“I’ve been reluctant to admit that I have to move on from playing tennis. It’s like a taboo topic. It comes up, and I start to cry.”

She plans to retire after the U.S. Open. Check out some of her accomplishments as the female tennis GOAT.
