Shakira Announces New Single “COPA VACIA” Releases June 29th

Shakira shared the cover art for her upcoming single “COPA VACIA” on Instagram. She also revealed that the song will feature Manuel Turizo. The new single will be available on streaming services on June 29th.

Shakira’s Instagram post about her upcoming single has received nearly two million likes. The Colombian wears a mermaid tail with her long pastel pink hair in the photo. In the back of the image, you can see some of the scenes from an upcoming music video, including Manuel Turizo having the Colombian singer in his arms.

Last week, the Colombian singer teased the upcoming collaboration on Instagram. “On mermaid watch,” Shakira captioned a video of herself surfing while a portion of the song played in the background.

Months have passed since it was revealed on various digital platforms that this Colombian duo was working on a new single, and even a portion of the song was leaked.

With this new announcement, the interpreter of songs such as Monotona, Acrostico, and Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 fuels speculation that she will release her new album in September, five years after El Dorado.

It should be noted that in February 2023, a portion of the song was leaked between Shakira and Manuel Turizo. Although the sound is not completely clear if you can hear a verse that says: “I’ve been thirsty for you for a while and I don’t know why, I’m left wanting more, wanting to drink from an empty glass.”

Turizo recently admitted that this was the second song he attempted to collaborate on with the Colombian singer and that they finally agreed on lyrics, tastes, rhythms, and interpretation. And it is that the Colombian has collaborated with two of Colombia’s most prominent urban genre artists, including Maluma on the songs Chantaje, Clandestino, and Trap, as well as Karol G on TQG.
