‘So Much Love’ is the latest full-bodied single from the London-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Calista Kazuko. This song expresses a rich range of emotions to celebrate the admiration for life, a bright self-confidence, and the intense love you feel for your nearest and dearest. As is often the case with Kazuko’s potent avant-garde style, this song is built around the polished interplay between a deftly played piano and the artist’s sophisticated vocal.

Kazuko’s sound resembles Kate Bush, Regina Spektor, and Marina and the Diamonds. Joining the powerful force of voice and piano is a complimentary backing band (Fred Claridge on drums and Sam Weston on bass), who utilize a sometimes restrained and sometimes improvised, jazzy style to reflect the fluidity of Kazuko’s performance.

Calista produced the track alongside co-producer and engineer Ru Lemer at the historic Temple Music Studio, home to musical legends Jon Hiseman and Barbara Thompson.

We can watch the magic taking place thanks to a live performance captured by filmmaker Philip Reinking during recording sessions at Temple Music Studio.

Calista Kazuko says, “So Much Love is my very first love song, can you believe it? I thought it was about time! We recorded while I was super pregnant and loved up on oxytocin, so this song is for the love you feel as a partner, a parent, a child, a friend, a human full of SO MUCH LOVE!”

‘So Much Love’ follows this year’s earlier release of ‘Panda,’ a playful alt-pop ode to motherhood that brought in praise from Songwriting Magazine, Beautiful Buzzz, LOCK Magazine, She Makes Music, Voice Magazine, Mixed Tapes, Amazing Radio, and more!

These 2022 singles ‘So Much Love’ and ‘Panda’ are also part of the extended Uchi project, which consists of songs written and recorded during and after Calista Kazuko’s pregnancy. In collaboration with Migrant Help, this ongoing project celebrates family and love, ruminating on the homes we carry within ourselves.
