People say that no one in the world suffers for love like Brazilians do, and the greatest proof of that is sertanejo sofrência music. No wonder Netflix’s new Brazilian series, Só se for por amor [Only if it’s for love], sought inspiration in this musical style to tell a story about broken hearts, dreams, ambition and fame. Production is in the final shooting stages and it’s scheduled to premiere in 2022. Presented in this video to the sound of Todo Mundo Vai Sofrer by Marília Mendonça, the cast includes artists like Lucy Alves, Filipe Bragança and singer Agnes Nunes, in her acting debut, in addition to Gustavo Vaz, Ana Mametto, Micael, Giordano Castro, Adriano Ferreira, Luiza Fittipaldi and Laila Garin.

In the plot, set in Goiás, Deusa (Lucy Alves) and Tadeu (Filipe Bragança) are in love and decide to start a band called Só se for por amor. But as soon as they start to become successful, Deusa receives a proposal to start a solo career. As they follow different paths, their relationship becomes rocky, while the band will start searching for a new lead singer. That’s when the mysterious Eva (Agnes Nunes) comes into the scene. The cast also includes Jeniffer Nascimento, Bruno Fagundes and Clarissa Müller, in addition to a guest appearance of Marcélia Cartaxo, Leo Jaime and Solange Almeida.

Produced by Coração da Selva for Netflix, Só se for por amor is directed by Ana Luiza Azevedo, Gisele Barroco and Joana Mariani. The series was created by Luciano Patrick, who co-produced it with Georgia Costa Araújo.
