On Sunday, Nicki Minaj shared a snide comment about Teigen after Teigen was seen laughing and giving a thumbs-up during a joke about Minaj during the opening monologue of the 2026 Grammy Awards. The comment renewed an online rivalry linked to Minaj’s latest support of President Donald Trump.

Minaj shared a comment on X on February 2nd that implied Teigen was or is biologically male. The comment generated widespread criticism of Minaj online. The comment came after Grammy Awards host Trevor Noah brought up Minaj’s support for Trump, noting that she was absent from the ceremony. The ceremony took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 1st.

Minaj did not attend the ceremony. During the ceremony, Noah told jokes about Minaj, including that she was “still at the White House with Donald Trump.” He then proceeded to give an exaggerated imitation of Trump making sexually suggestive comments. Teigen was in attendance at the ceremony and was seen laughing and giving a thumbs-up during the joke. Minaj retaliated against Teigen several hours later with an insulting comment on X that was misspelled and implied an accusation against Teigen.

The exchange comes during a time when there has been increased focus on Minaj’s political shift. In recent months, the rapper has publicly aligned herself with Trump, calling herself the President’s “No. 1 fan.” She also appeared alongside Trump at a Trump Accounts Summit earlier this week. During the summit, she said that the backlash over her support for Trump “motivates” her. She also called Trump a “protected” individual.

Minaj, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to the United States as a child, has also said she will release documents related to her citizenship. In a post to X on January 28, she shared an image of a Trump-issued “gold card” that she said granted her citizenship.

Minaj had previously called out Trump’s immigration policies in 2018. However, she has also said that she supports Trump’s immigration agenda.

During a charity event last week, Trump called Minaj the “greatest” and “most successful” female rapper, admitting that she had received “a little heat” for supporting him.

Since the Grammys, at which she appeared, Minaj has made several posts on X, though not all of them referenced Noah or Teigen. She has also posted about another singer, Lizzo, further fueling the conversation.

Teigen has not commented publicly on the post made to her. Representatives for Minaj, Teigen, and the Grammys have not commented.
