Songwriter Irving Burgie dies at 95

Brooklyn-born songwriter Irving Burgie, best known for co-writing Harry Belafonte’s Banana Boat song Day-O in 1952, passed away on Friday at the age of 95. Burgie is credited with helping to bring Caribbean music into the mainstream.
