Sophie Rain retaliates against comedian Pete Davidson for criticizing influencers earning $40 million a year for “doing nothing,” saying she is the one behind the number.
Rain, who reportedly made more than $43 million in her first year on the subscription platform by posting bikini and lingerie content, responded to Davidson’s comment in a 75-second video.
“Telling you guys some facts about myself since Pete Davidson said, ‘Who the f*** are you?'” Rain said in the video. “My name is Sophie Rain, and yes, I am the girl who made $40 million in a year for doing nothing.”
The social media influencer and TikToker introduced herself, noting that most of her income doesn’t come from this source.
“Although I am a social media influencer and a TikToker, my main source of income comes from being a b*p,” she said. “You haven’t seen my content. Well, you’re in for a treat.”
Rain explained that the money didn’t come to her easily and that she worked as a waitress for many years.
“Although the money does come easy for me, it wasn’t always like that,” she said. “I used to work a 9-to-5 job as a server for three and a half years before doing social media.”
She also disputed the claim that influencers do nothing, adding that creators have to post content every day to keep their audience engaged.
“Contrary to popular belief, being an influencer is a lot of work,” Rain said. “You have to post every single day without fail or your views are going to drop tremendously.”
Rain then referenced Davidson’s previous relationship with the reality TV star Kim Kardashian.
“I thought Pete would know this after dating the most popular influencer in the world, but I guess paying attention to your significant other isn’t everyone’s priority in a relationship,” she said.
However, Rain did not equate her work with a regular job.
“And no, I’m not saying it’s as hard as a full-time job, but it takes a lot of effort to stay popular and relevant,” she said.
But away from the camera, Rain leads a quiet life on a farm.
“And besides just making money all the time, I do enjoy a simple life,” Rain said. “I live full-time on a farm where I scoop cow s*** in my free time.”
Rain said that she uses part of her income to help people in need, mentioning the organizations she has been donating to lately.
“I also love using the money I make to involve myself in philanthropy,” she said. “A few of the recent projects that I’ve donated to were Team Water to help building wells in Africa, Feeding America to helping those who can’t afford a meal every day. And school teachers in need of school supplies for their incoming students.”
Rain finished her video with a message for her fans.
“I hope this helps explain a little more about me,” she said. “I love you guys.”
