South African inventor Sonnet Bryant has unveiled the Rape Axe, an anti-rape condom designed to address the rising incidents of sexual assault in the country. The urgency of this invention is underscored by recent police statistics, revealing over 4,000 reported cases of rape between July and September of the previous year. Explaining the process, Bryant stated, “I consulted various gynaecologists to ensure it’s comfortable and safe. The hooks, even when inserted, pose no harm or discomfort, allowing women to wear it for up to twelve hours.” This emphasis on safety addresses a critical concern, reassuring potential users about the device’s reliability.
