Interim Chief of Police Robert Schroeder declared a state of emergency for the Louisville Metro Police Department on Monday. The department has also canceled all off-day and vacation requests “until further notice.” The announcement comes ahead of Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s announcement in the Breonna Taylor case.

Taylor, a 26-year-old EMT and aspiring nurse, was fatally shot after police broke down the door to her apartment while executing a late-night ‘no-knock’ warrant in a narcotics investigation on March 13.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer confirmed that the city will pay a $12 million settlement to Breonna Taylor’s family last week.
A number of police reform policies will also be implemented, including requiring commanding officers to sign off on search warrants.
It’s been over six months since Breonna Taylor tragic death. Attorney General Daniel Cameron still hasn’t called for the arrest for Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove.
Breonna Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Jamarcus Glover was allegedly offered a plea deal, which would have required him to say that Taylor was part of his drug operation. Just now, the family’s attorney shared a picture of a plea deal that appears to show it is true.
U.S. Attorney Russell Coleman has requested that Homeland Security provide protection for four adjacent federal buildings in downtown Louisville amid ongoing protests.
