The creator of the Super Mario Manga Series, Kazuki Motoyama, died at the age of 69 earlier this week. This information has been shared through a posting made on the Internet-based networking site Facebook by his sister, Lisa Motoyama. The cause of his death has not yet been revealed.
One of the most iconic gamer characters has his very own manga series. The Super Mario manga series includes the iconic Nintendo character and lasted from December of 1988 to September of 1998, and the remainder of the series came out within the related publication, the Deluxe BomBom, and totaled a total of 183 issues that are considered a bittersweet historical relic.
The Super Mario manga series, written and drawn by Motoyama, first appeared within the Kodansha anthology manga series Comic BomBom back in 1988 and ran until the year 1998. The series includes Mario’s adventures, such as Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 64. Motoyama’s work within the Super Mario franchise has been well-received not only because of its contribution to the franchise but also because of the meta-humor infused within the world of Nintendo.
Our condolences and prayers are extended to his family and loved ones during these difficult times.
