Areva Martin, the multi-award-winning Civil Rights Attorney and Child Advocate, in partnership with the Special Needs Network (SNN), has unveiled the esteemed honorees for the 16th Annual A Pink Pump Affair. This distinguished charity event is set to take place on Sunday, May 19th, 2024, at 11:30 AM, at the iconic Beverly Wilshire Hotel, A Four Seasons.
The event, which celebrates remarkable individuals making significant contributions to their fields and communities, will be hosted by CBS 2 & KCAL 9 News anchor Pat Harvey. A silent auction, led by award-winning comedian and actress Kym Whitley, and a live fashion show presented by Summer Colony Living are among the event’s highlights. Further, SNN plans to announce celebrity presenters soon.

Tamera Mowry-Housley, the multi-talented Emmy Award-winning host and actress, will be awarded the Trailblazer Award for her contributions to women’s health and wellness, as well as her advocacy for inclusivity and empowerment.
“I’m incredibly honored to be considered for the ‘Trailblazer Award.’ My journey of over 30 years has been filled with challenges and joys. I’m thankful for the support I’ve received throughout,” said Tamera Mowry-Housley.
Alva Adams-Mason, Director of Multicultural Business Alliances at Toyota, will receive the Game Change Award for her efforts in promoting diversity within the automotive industry.”Diversity drives innovation. It’s about creating opportunities for everyone,” commented Alva Adams-Mason.
Cristy Romero will be honored with the Self-Advocate Award for her leadership in disability rights advocacy. Romero emphasized, “Inclusion is not just a goal; it’s a necessity.”Michael Jett, an entrepreneur and autism self-advocate, will receive The Areva Martin Everyday Advocate Award for his retail innovation and commitment to DEI initiatives.” As the Founder of Yack Shack Group, we’re amplifying diverse voices and products in retail,” said Michael Jett.
The A Pink Pump Affair is presented by Toyota and sponsored by US Bank, Walmart, The Lakers Foundation, LA County Supervisor Holly Mitchell, and Bella Vida Magazine.
Proceeds from the event will support the newly established Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities (C.A.D.D.), located at the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. SNN is excited to consolidate its programs and services at this central location, strengthening its impact in South Los Angeles.
