After being found guilty of murder and pleading guilty to aggravated robbery, 19-year-old Texas rapper Tay-K has been sentenced to 55 years in prison.
Tay-K also received 30 years in prison for one count of aggravated robbery and an additional two 13-year sentences for two other counts of the crime. The sentences will run concurrently.
The state referenced testimony from corrections officers who claimed that McIntyre had a phone in jail and had been disruptive. “We can’t control this guy. We can’t control him while he’s out on the street and we can’t control him in jail.”
The jury was also shown a picture of a jailed Tay-K pointing his fingers like guns on the ground. “This is what he wants you to know about his character,” a prosecutor said while showing the picture.
Prosecutors reportedly showed the lyrics and video to Tay-K’s song The Race to the jury, in which the rapper brags about being on the run from police.
Richard Walker, father of Ethan Walker, this afternoon: “Every lyric to ‘The Race’ is stained with my son’s blood. Every ‘free Tay-K’ T-shirt that was ever sold has my son’s blood on it.”
