Rihanna was in Malawi last year giving back to the country. Her Clara Lionel Foundation partnered up with Chinese bike-sharing company Ofo to give out bikes and better education. They funded scholarships to help hundreds of girls attend secondary school in Malawi. The ones who qualified for the scholarship received bikes to transport to school.

According to the foundation, there are 4.6 million students in the country of Malawi but only 8% of students complete secondary school in Malawi. The main reason for that is the transportation problem in the country.

The Barbados Goddess was recently named the “Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary” for Barbados. Her roles is to promote education, tourism, and investment to her country.

She was born in Saint Michael in Barbados, and grew up in the capital, Bridgetown. She lived there until her teenage years. Riri was discovered by an American producer named Evan Rogers, who helped her break out into the U.S. charts. Last year in Barbados they renamed the street she grew up on “Rihanna Drive” in her honor.

Rihanna partnered up with Global Citizen to help build Malawi and make people of aware of the problem this country encounters daily.

In a new release documentary, the icon and GPE ambassador expresses her passion into learning more about African nations and how to overcome the obstacles they face on everyday basis. Especially in the education sector and the lack of resources which often leads to high dropout rate for students.

Riri is inspired me to do more for people in need. No matter what your situation is, there is somebody else going through worse times then you.
