Taylour Paige Wins Best Female Lead At The Spirit Awards For ‘ZOLA’

Taylour Paige won the award for best female lead at Film Independent Spirit Awards for her role in Zola.

This film wouldn’t be possible if Aziah “Zola” King never started Twitter thread about a trip she took to Florida with a stripper named Jessica; the story, containing details of prostitution, murder and an attempted suicide, quickly went viral, garnering the recognition of people such as Missy Elliott, Solange Knowles and Ava DuVernay.

Paige was responsible for bringing Zola’s 48?hour Florida trip to life. Riley Keough portrayed Stefani aka Jessica, the person who seduces Zola to join a weekend of dancing and partying in Florida. Aziah “Zola” King was in attendance to see Taylour Paige win the award.

The Zola star broke down in happy tears while delivering her beautiful speech about the impossible circumstances.
