The tragic passing of Stephen “tWitch” Boss in December 2022 left fans, friends, and family grappling with profound loss. Now, over two years later, tensions between Boss’s widow, Allison Holker, and his close-knit community have escalated into a public dispute, revealing layers of grief, anger, and alleged betrayal.
Holker, known for her career as a professional dancer and her role alongside Boss on So You Think You Can Dance, opened up to People magazine in an interview published on January 7th. Her claims about Boss’s struggles, addiction, and personal trauma sparked immediate backlash from his family and friends, who accused her of tarnishing his legacy for personal gain.
Holker’s Shocking Allegations
In the People interview, Holker shared that after Boss’s passing, she discovered what she described as a “cornucopia” of drugs in his closet. She also referenced entries in his private journal that alluded to childhood abuse. “I was blindsided,” Holker said. “I thought I knew everything about Stephen, but these discoveries painted a different picture.”
Holker emphasized her intent to shed light on mental health and addiction struggles but acknowledged the sensitive nature of sharing such personal details. Critics, however, questioned the ethics of disclosing information from Boss’s journal, calling it a breach of trust.
Family Pushes Back
Boss’s family, particularly his cousin Elle and mother Connie Boss Alexander, have vehemently denied Holker’s claims. Elle took to Twitter, expressing her outrage. “He wasn’t an addict. He smoked weed and was actively trying to quit. He wasn’t some junkie,” she wrote. Elle also accused Holker of preventing Boss’s family from seeing his children—Maddox, 8, Zaia, 5, and Weslie, 16, (Weslie is whom Boss adopted).
“Yeah, idgaf about an NDA,” Elle tweeted, alleging that Holker made family members sign non-disclosure agreements to attend Boss’s funeral. “She’s been trying to tarnish his legacy and refuses to let the Boss family see the children. Only to exploit and LIE on my cousin. Hell no.”
Close Friends Speak Out
The controversy intensified when Courtney Ann Platt, a longtime friend of Boss, criticized Holker’s interview in a scathing Instagram post. “This is by far the most tacky, classless, opportunistic act I have ever seen in my entire life,” she began.
Platt, who attended the funeral, confirmed the existence of NDAs and accused Holker of mistreating Boss’s mother. “Even his own mother had to sign an NDA to attend her son’s funeral,” she wrote. Platt questioned Holker’s motivations, accusing her of exploiting Boss’s name for financial gain.
“This smear campaign for a buck is absolutely not what he would have ever wanted. No matter how bad he was hurting. Not for a second,” Platt wrote. She called Holker’s actions a “betrayal” and urged her to focus on her own healing instead of tarnishing Boss’s memory.
Choreographer Emmanuel Hurd’s Goes Off Allison Holker
Choreographer Emmanuel Hurd, another close friend of Boss, echoed the outrage in a fiery social media post. “If you loved TWITCH, screenshot this and post it… DEAR ALLISON, you have lied for the LAST TIME on my brother,” Hurd began.
He denied Holker’s claims about Boss being an addict, instead accusing her of projecting her own alleged substance use onto him. “You will say and do ANYTHING for a dollar!! An addict? YOU ARE THE ONE that was messing with the COKE, MOLLY AND X!!” he wrote.
Hurd also raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Boss’s death, including the alleged use of Holker’s gun. “Wasn’t it YOUR GUN that was used? Keep playing with MY BROTHER’S NAME!!” he added, vowing to expose what he called “the full truth.”
Allegations of Control and Exploitation
Both family and friends have accused Holker of controlling access to Boss’s legacy and his children. In her posts, Elle claimed that Holker isolated the Boss family, while Platt and Hurd criticized her for prioritizing media appearances over genuine mourning.
“You’re on every carpet you can get on, every celebrity row you can sit in, every magazine you can be in,” Platt wrote. “This is how you protect his children from any further humiliation, hurt, and despair?”
Hurd echoed these sentiments, describing Holker as a “toxic narcissist” who manipulated those around her. He expressed regret for encouraging Boss to stay in the marriage, believing it was for the sake of the children.
Divided Opinions on Social Media
The public fallout has sparked heated debates on social media. Fans of Boss have expressed disappointment and confusion, with many questioning the need for Holker to share such intimate details about her late husband.
If someone’s spouse passes away through their own hands, I do think they deserve a level of grace to grapple with the shock of that. However, exposing their alleged sa as a child that you yourself read in a private journal, that is not okay. Allison Holker went too far on that.

A man hides his pain until his death, and what does his wife do?
— 𝖭𝗄𝖾𝗆 (@prissypa) January 7, 2025
She writes a memoir and exposes his pain to the world , the same world he used his life to protect.
Allison Holker!! It’s God that will judge you.
I'm not going to say the things I want to say about Allison Holker. At least not online. But regardless of what's true or isn't regarding Twitch, it's especially vile to use someone's SA story written in a private journal in your memoir. It's exploitation, a violation, and sick.

Allison Holker is going to hell btw. She’s a weirdo.

At the end of the day, all Allison Holker is showing is that she was not her husbands safe space. He protected his kids from his personal issues, and she's out here exposing them. No one needed to know outside of his family.

Supporters of Holker argue that she has the right to share her story, especially if it brings awareness to mental health and addiction. Critics, however, view her actions as opportunistic and harmful to Boss’s legacy.
I’m not going to say what Allison Holker is doing is right or wrong. I will never say what I would or wouldn’t do in light of a traumatic experience of THAT magnitude. She may be….angry. And maybe she is struggling for income. Maybe she is still THAT hurt.

Hiding your addiction issues from your wife and family isn’t protecting them. Allison Holker getting dragged for this is crazy. If she wasn’t a safe space for tWitch, neither was anyone else who is mad at Allison. tWitch was sick and left his wife and kids.
— Chatterbox Keirn (@ChatterboxKeirn) January 8, 2025
Let’s be real. What Allison holker is doing goes beyond “making things aware” but that was his queen and whom he chose. Sorry but BW need to stay out of this. It’s none of our business. Let the family deal with that. He left her with kids and debt. Hustle is a hustle.
