“The Traitors” has crowned itself as the top unscripted series on all US streaming platforms, according to Nielsen, marking a huge victory for unscripted television.
The reality competition, hosted by the charming Alan Cumming, has not only won over fans but has also secured its position as the ninth streaming original series in terms of total minutes viewed during its first full week on the platform (1/15/24).
The show’s second season, which premiered on January 12, they marked a watershed moment for Peacock, as “The Traitors” became the most-watched reality series debut on the platform. Streaming reach has increased by an impressive 75% since the first season, which began on January 12, 2023.
Peacock, riding high on the success of “The Traitors,” recently attracted an astonishing average audience of 23 million for the AFC Wild Card game on January 13. In an internet-breaking feat, the game accounted for 30% of total Internet usage at the time, cementing Peacock’s dominance in the streaming landscape.
Notably, this is the first time Peacock has secured two original series on the coveted Nielsen Top Ten originals list. Seth McFarlane’s comedic event series “Ted,” which debuted on Jan. 11 and quickly became Peacock’s most-watched original title in its first 13 days on the platform (1/15/24 (TED: #5 / THE TRAITORS: #9), joins “The Traitors” on this esteemed list.
“The Traitors” has not only dominated streaming metrics but has also received positive feedback from fans and critics alike. The Daily Beast says, “Reality competitions don’t get better than The Traitors.” This acclaim has translated into industry recognition, with the series recently receiving its first Emmy Award for Outstanding Casting in a Reality Program, a testament to its outstanding debut season.
