TikTok Creator Serena Neel Fills Swimming Pool With 50,000 Pickles for Viral World-Record Bid

While 50,000 pickles in bad condition may seem a waste to most people, Serena Neel decided to make a pool stunt out of them and invite her friends for a swim.

A 25-minute TikTok video that Serena made about this stunt has garnered more than 2 million views and 35,000 likes on YouTube, which is no surprise, since it is rather bizarre.

Initially, this stunt was quite simple. The pickles had been ruined and could not be used, so Neel had purchased 50,000 pickles from her friend Josh at $1. However, there were two problems: first, they were all in Utah; second, Josh did not know Serena would use his pool.

What made this stunt particularly complicated was cleaning and removing dill and garlic from so many pickles. For this purpose, Josh made a Rube Goldberg-style machine named “The Dilliminator”.

It separates the dill and the garlic, and the pickles move along the wire fence and are washed by jets above. Then they fall into the wheelbarrow to be taken to the pool along with the dilliminated pickles.

What is more, there was a time constraint: if they remained in the sun, they would turn white in about an hour, so the pool had been covered until the beginning of the stunt, since Neel cared about how it would look.

“Swimming in a pool of white pickles would be disgusting. Swimming in a pool of green pickles would be cool,” she stated.

As the final touch, the team built a 14-foot-high sculpture from empty jars. Their plan included gluing the jars onto the discs, stacking them, and adding sparkle as the finishing touch.

However, things went wrong, and some dill got stuck in the pump, making the situation a “pickle problem” according to the team member.

“We’re replumbing the pump. So, now we’ve got it running again, but it still keeps getting clogged with dill,” he stated.

The pump worked well. The mood remained high, too. Once the pool was filled with salty green water, Neel started to climb the diving board for the very first jump.

“Three, two, one, jump. Whoa, I lost my goggles. I feel like an alligator!” she said.

Once a day of working in a garlic-smelling environment ended, the sculpture stood tall, the pool party started, and Serena was inspired.

“A majestic and pickleastic view was before my eyes,” she stated. “In this moment, the long hours of deliminating, the countless wheelbarrows full of pickles, and my garlic reeking hair was all worth it.”

The pickles would continue their existence, though, as Neel said, they would be brought to the Recyclops, where they would capture methane and convert it into the natural gas used in homes in Utah. This is one of those sentences that almost no one needs to say.
